Annie Ruiz Diaz




Annie Ruiz Diaz was born in Matanzas, Cuba. She began her studies at the Vocational School of Art Alfonso Peres Isaac. In 2003  she continued studies at the National School of Ballet of Havana where she participated in a number of competitions and festivals. She also acquired international experience performing in Mexico and demonstration classes in Canada. Annie has won the silver medal  in the 9th International Competition of ballet in Havana. In 2006 Annie Ruiz graduated and was given the title of professional dancer and teacher with honors and excellence in major roles such as pas de deux from Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, Diana and Action, Paquita, Sleeping Beauty Giselle and La Fille mal Gardee, among others.

In 2006 she was chosen by the National Ballet of Cuba under the direction of Alicia Alonso, and in 2009 was  promoted to Soloist. After an 8-year career in the company she danced some of the greatest classical ballets including leading roles in Nutcracker, Four Swans, Paquita, Giselle’s Friend’s and ballet (Munecos), and Rara Abis, created by the well recognized worldwide Master Alberto Mendez. She  has participated in many international tours to Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Canada, Australia, Brazil, among many others. In 2013 she danced as the principal guest artist with the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami. She moved to the company Ballet Concierto of  Puerto Rico in 2014 as principal dancer and now celebrates her second season with the Columbia City Ballet as soloist in South Carolina.
